women. Potential candidates are reviewed by the admissions committee
for entrance into the facility.

Culver Home is a charitable, not-for-profit, nondenominational

Doctors that make a
difference:
Residents can
depend on quality medical care; always available, it's just a phone
call away. A selected physician, dentist and podiatrist make
scheduled visits. Physical therapists and other health care
professionals visit as required to help residents maintain their
independence and self-esteem.
A history of love and
commitment:
The Mary
Culver Home has a history of love and commitment that began in 1866.
The Blind Girls' Home was established by nine young blind women
searching for a permanent residence for themselves and others. By
1909, through the generosity of Mary Elizabeth Culver, our
benefactress, a home was built that specifically addressed the needs
of the blind. As the women grew older, the organization faced new
challenges. In 1966, the residents moved to Kirkwood into the
modern, one-story, specialty designed building that serves as their
home today. In 1993, to better reflect the mature residents, the
name of the organization was changed to The Mary Culver Home. Thanks
to the generosity and commitment of the community and the volunteer
Board of Directors, The Mary Culver Home is funded entirely by
charitable donations.
